Why does Ebay now force you to enter your payment information before they will submit your offer. Sort of like going to a restaurant and giving them your credit card before you are seated. Ebay has all of our payent information already so why the forced payment info ? I will not make another offer unless Ebay stops this!

Mentor3 years agoeBay does not have all of your payment information already nor do they know how you want to pay for a specific offer. They are asking how you want to pay for "this" item if your offer is accepted. You aren't charged unless it is accepted.
The payment information isn't forced. You don't have to make offers on items. You can choose to pay full price using Buy It Now. (You still have to provide your payment information before your item is shipped).
I'm sorry to say but eBay is not going to stop this. In fact, they are planning to roll it out to auctions at some point. It solves the problem of so many deadbeat buyers who make offers and then don't pay for the items, costing the seller money, costing eBay money, and disrupting the marketplace for other buyers. Many sellers won't allow offers for this very reason. When fully implemented, more sellers will use it and you may find better deals.
The only members who should have a problem with this are those who violate policy by not paying for their items when their offers are accepted....which is fine with sellers, eBay, and honest buyers - it's something to celebrate. It solves a big problem on the site which negatively affects everyone (except those deadbeats who will go bye bye).

It is due to the number of buyers that place offers and never pay when the seller accepts the offer.
I rather like choosing my payment info before hand, saves me the step of having to go through Ebay checkout after seller accepts my offer. Easy peasy.

So punish all of the Ebayer's who do pay their bills because other buyers fail to pay.
Instead of punishing all of the buyers (and sellers because buyers will not use that option due to payment info) Ebay should have just punished the buyers who do that.....like kick them off the platform. Unfortunately they won't because the want the commissions from their purchases when they do pay for them....seems backward to me. Will no longer click on the "offers" button. Will contact the seller directly and as them to reduce their price in the auction. If they do not, then they lost me as a buyer.

·3 years agoeBay does punish repeat non payors - if a buyer receives two or more non payment strikes in 12 months, they can be blocked from buying for 12 months. Unfortunately, many will violate policy by opening another account to get around the block. eBay is attempting to solve the problem altogether.

How is entering your payment information beforehand "punishment"? You have to enter it eventually when the seller accepts your offer. Entering it sooner vs. later, no difference.
Sellers will not appreciate buyers sending them unsolicited messages asking them to lower their price. Good way to get blocked.

Mentor3 years agoYou are not being "punished." I can't fathom how this could ever be considered a punishment.
If a buyer plans to pay for the Best Offer item, he simply provides his payment info upfront. If the offer is accepted, he is charged for the purchase and go on about his business. If the offer is declined, the payment info is not used.
