Offering a discount to a buyer on an item I did not ship.

Question

I sold an item and and I was unable to ship it due to a personal issue. The purchase was credited to the buyer and has not been relisted. Because of the problem this caused for the buyer I want to offer him the same item with a significant discount on the item price but I do not know how to do it properly. Your suggestions would be much appreciated.

Use the CONTACT BUYER and make him the offer in a message to see if s/he is open to it. If yes, then create a new listing, using SELL SIMILAR from the original listing, changing the item price. Submit the listing and send the item number to the buyer, so the buyer can make the purchase before the listing is searchable.
