Offer not responded to

It seems like a placeholder or incomplete thread without any meaningful interaction or discussion around the subject presented.
I made an offer on an item when several were available. A few days later I noticed no reply so I checked the item and discovered it was out of stock. I realize there were offers ahead of mine (or people said buy-it-now) all within the time my offer was in the queue. But when it went out of stock, it would be nice if ebay or the merchant could let the people waiting for an offer response know (including 72 hours after the offer was made).
Put another way, the eBay page says "The seller has 24 hours to decide whether to accept or decline your offer. They can also suggest another price. If they don’t respond to you in that time, or if the listing ends before they respond, then your offer expires."
So the question restated is, shouldn't I get an email saying my offer expired *even when the reason becomes OUT OF STOCK*?

Mentor4 months agoWhen you make an offer there are four official responses allowed by eBay. The seller can either accept, reject, counter offer or ignore your offer. Pleases note that ignoring your offer is an official response allowed by eBay. We have no way of know what may have happened since it is up to the seller to decide what to do with an offer.
