Offensive Material Policy
I tried listing a 1932 printing of Hitler's Mein Kampf. Similar books are widely sold on eBay - I currently see 34 copies available. Yet my listing was removed due to a violation of the "Offensive Material Policy". Am I missing something here?
The Notice I received says:
"What activity didn't follow the policy
Due to our worldwide audience, eBay has made the decision not to allow the book Mein Kampf to be listed or sold on our site. Please do not relist this item and make the necessary changes to your listing software."

Mentor2 years agoSell that offensive book elsewhere. It is like being on the highway where not all speeders are caught. You are on the radar now, so don't relist it or you could be suspended.

OP2 years agoI agree it’s offensive. But you can buy this book new just about anywhere. What I am selling is a historic artifact nearly 100 years old. And eBay has explicitly reviewed 19 other listings of this book and has determined it’s not a violation of their policy. So, your analogy is not helpful.

Mentor2 years ago@birvvy_65. It doesn't sound like your trying to sell an abridged US edition. That's the difference.

OP2 years agoThanks for your further response. I think you've hit on the relevant point. Looking at the other listings that eBay approves of, they appear to all be in English. I'll find someplace else to sell it (or otherwise dispose of, really, perhaps a museum would be interested...) Anyway, thanks for your assistance!

Mentor2 years ago@birvvy_65 The other listings just have not been caught YET. They may even be caught after sold when eBay cancels the transaction and makes the seller issue a refund.
The sellers are risking their accounts by listing Mein Kampf

OP2 years agoThanks for your reply, but it seems that eBay is randomly enforcing their policy. After my listing was removed, I flagged all 34 listings of Mein Kampf. I have now received 19 emails stating:
What happened:
We looked into your report and didn’t find the listing to be in violation of our policy. This determination was made by a customer service agent.
If you reported content that isn’t listed below, we’ll send a separate email once we’ve made a decision.
