Odd shipping request from buyer
A buyer purchased an item from me. Almost immediately they sent me a message saying how happy they were to be able to purchase this item as they are a collector. Then they asked if I could hold of on shipping the item as they are out of town until early January. Is this a common request from a buyer? I don't really see how this could be a scam. If it is legit, how do I go about withholding physically shipping the item but not get dinged by not shipping within my shipping and handling window?
Thank you for any help and feedback as I have only been selling for about 7-8 months and still have a lot to learn.

Mentor9 months agoWelcome to eBay selling and good for you to post here looking for guidance. Buyers do ask this not understanding eBay's seller shipping requirements.
eBay requires sellers to ship orders within their stated handling time, even if a buyer requests that the shipment be held. The only way to avoid a late shipment is to cancel the order and relist the item, then have the buyer repurchase it once they’re able to receive delivery. Be sure to clearly communicate with the buyer and explain the situation before canceling the order. When you cancel the order, use reason "problem with buyer's address." There is you cannot ship there in the time frame they want. HERE is how to cancel an order.
Best wishes with your eBay selling.
