Odd request from a buyer
I am selling an iPhone currently and had a buyer accept the “buy it now†price. The listing closed, and a few minutes later i got a message in my notifications that asks for a video of the device so they can be sure i am really selling the item. The message came as a photo of a text message. It provides a gmail address to send the video to. The buyer has no transactions on eBay. I have been using eBay for years with this and other accounts, I’ve bought and sold many items and have never gotten this request before. I am just wondering if anyone has seen this, is it legit? Possibly a scam of some type? Can’t be too careful these days. Any info would be helpful. I just feel weird about this one.

If the buyer has not paid, sending an email address in a photo is a way to get around filters preventing sharing contact information prior to payment.
Likely the buyer wants you to reply to the email address so that the buyer can obtain your email address to send you a fake "payment has been made" email and get you to ship the item without actually being paid.
Scammers frequently target relatively new sellers selling expensive items like iPhones.
Wait four days and then cancel the transaction for nonpayment, since the buyer will not pay.

Mentor11 months agoYou are correct in feeling something is not right, especially sending a photo of the request. People often do that so that ebay can't see the actual request in writing.
Are you using photos that you took of the item?
