Now that ebay charges fees for shipping, what's the best way to list?

I always just charge actual shipping, but with ebay charging fees on my tax and shipping, I'm losing money. They charged me over $9 in fees for the sale of an item that only cost $7. How are other sellers compensating for these fees? Increase item costs? Increase shipping costs? What's the best way to list?

eBay has charged fees on shipping for the past 13 years. There is nothing new there. Charging fees on the sales tax is a few years new, but fairly negligible. But when eBay started charging fees on the sales tax, they lowered the fees to make it a wash.

Most sellers likely factor their fees into the selling price. If you purchase your shipping labels through eBay, you can refrain from passing along the shipping discounts you receive and use that to cover your handling costs which could include a portion of the fees.
