This was the second time I have been screwed over by a seller on ebay. I'm retired and on SS and I thought I'd save a little money and repair my lawn mower myself. So I bought an engine from [Removed by Moderator]. The engine arrived damaged. so I contacted the seller and told them if they'd refund me the amount it would cost me to buy new parts, I'd do the repairs and keep the engine. Well he quit responding to me. So I bought the parts myself and did the repairs which were what i thought was just external to the engine. Finally got it installed and started it up but it ran really rough. So I took off the damaged tappet cover to see if the dent was interfering with them. When I removed the tappet cover one push rod was gone and the other was bent. I'm just sick. I know I can probably get ebay to help me, but at this point, I'd have to remove the engine, box it up to return it. So I've decided to just let it be a lesson learned and I will eat the cost of the engine and not ever buy on Ebay again!

Mentor4 months agoHi @billybubba
I'm sorry for all the trouble you went through, but why are you unhappy with eBay? It's your seller you should be unhappy with.
The best course of action would have been to return the engine at the seller's expense for a full refund. You have eBay's Money Back Guarantee, but you have to use it to benefit from it...

OP4 months agoI know that now, but didn't before time ran out. Plus I had to take off the old engine, put the new one on on after installing the new parts I paid for. So I'd have to take the new engine off the mower, drain the oil and package it up to send it back. I'm just sick of it. I'm not so much angry with ebay but with crappy sellers that screw you over, that's on ebay. So I'm done with ebay and wanted to let people know how [Removed by Moderator] screwed me over. The damage to the engine was not all external, as the rough treatment must have damaged the internals of the engine as well. You can have your own opinion on this, but I'm done.
