Not allowed to change shipping to Free and auction is almost over.
I failed to check the Free Shipping box so buyers think they have to pay. eBay listing won't allow me to check that box since there is already a bid.

This rule prevents most changes to auctions once bidding has started. It protects the bidder from a seller who would, for example, change a description, item condition, or the price or shipping cost (particularly if it were changed to a higher amount). Bidders make their decision to bid and how much to bid based on the information on the listing so it would be grossly unfair to the bidder for the seller to be able to change it.
It's important to proof your listing before you submit it. At this point, you can let it ride, add to the description, or cancel the bid and auction and relist it correctly.
