Mentor3 years agoCancelling due to non-payment also prevents both parties from leaving feedback.
Keep the instructions you received; unfortunately this happens a lot. Fees used to be taken out right away, so this 'new way' of cancelling is an improvement, as the fees aren't taken out until payment is made.

No. The way you notify eBay of a nonpayment is by cancelling the transaction after 4 days … choosing ‘Buyer hasn’t paid’ as the reason. [Doing that will put a nonpayment strike on the buyer’s account.]

Mentor3 years agoThere is no need to call eBay for a non-payer.
After four days you can cancel the transaction for nonpayment to give the buyer a strike and prevent feedback from being left. If you cancel earlier or for other reasons, the buyer will not get a strike.
Add the user to your Blocked Buyer List to prevent that particular user from bidding on or buying any more of your listings, regardless of what other sellers do.

Be sure to set your Buyer Requirements to preemptively block bids or purchases from users with two or more unpaid item strikes in the last year.
You can avoid unpaid items by listing your item for a fixed price with immediate payment required and by not accepting offers.

Mentor3 years agoFinal Value Fees are taken directly from the buyer's payment; if the transaction is canceled for non-payment, there are no fees.
