Why is there no retribution for buyers who don't pay? As a seller, if I don't ship an item, or ship a defective item, I am penalized by eBay, and (rightly so) have to refund their money. But, as a seller, I take photos, spend time researching pricing and posting an item for sale, monitor bids, and, when the item sells carefully package said item for shipment. Most people pay on receipt of invoice... as it should be. Sadly, every now and then someone wins a auction, and never pays! I am a small seller, and right now I have 2 items sold, both as yet unpaid. The first made an offer on the item, which I accepted. They were invoiced, I have send them letters thanking them for their purchase, and please pay... crickets! I now have to wait until tomorrow to cancel this purchase, then relist the item, losing valuable selling time, especially at this time of year. Meanwhile, the "buyer" is free to carry on messing up other people's lives. I'm sure I'm not alone with the this problem.

Mentor2 years agoThere ARE severe consequences for the buyer if the seller follows the unpaid item process.
If a buyer hasn't paid by day five, select the cancellation option in the dropdown next to the order using the reason that the buyer hasn't paid. The buyer will earn an unpaid item strike on his account. Two or more and his ability to buy will be limited or even ended.
Add the buyer to your blocked buyer list here:

Scroll down that page and turn on the option to auto-block buyers with 2 or more unpaid items within 12 months. That will help to protect you from repeat offenders.

·2 years agoYou cancel the sale due to nonpayment and the buyer receives a strike and your fees will be returned.
