Non paying purchaser
Summary: bill-from-the-emerald-city expressed frustration over an unpaid winning bid on eBay, which delayed their ability to relist their camera. They were upset about eBay's handling of the situation, particularly the inability to leave feedback or speak to an employee. mr_lincoln provided advice, explaining the process for dealing with unpaid items and suggested using the 'Sell similar' feature to minimize delays when relisting items.
I sold a camera on eBay with multiple bidders. A "sniper" bid won the auction. Then the bidder never paid and did not respond to my invoices and emails. I'm angry that eBay labelled the transaction "cancelled" rather than "bidder failed to pay." And I am prevented from leaving any feedback? He has ZERO consequences for this action? It cost me several weeks to wait for payment and then re auction. I thought there would be a strike against him, but it seems he gets off scot free. And of course eBay will not allow me to speak with an employee about the situation. Is that correct?

-Actually, you only have to wait 4 days on an unpaid item and then Cancel on day 5. When you do that one of the cancellation reason is Buyer hasn't paid. THAT reason gives the Buyer one Unpaid item strike on their account. If they get 2 in 12 months they will have trouble bidding or buying on eBay until their strike count drops to 1 or less.
However, each time you send an invoice the 4 day period resets.
I get unpaid items too. One thing I have done is if the Buyer drags their feet on payment and ignores the one message I send then I use the Sell similar feature and launch a new auction listing on the item. If the Buyer pays I end that listing. If they do not pay and I cancel I already have another auction on that item running. The overlap of the two listings is typically short and I have never gotten early bids on the relisted item that I would have to cancel if the Buyer pays for the original auction item.
