Non-paying, and no response to messages sent to buyer
There seems to be no recourse when buyers don't pay for an item they bid on. They don't respond to messages and even when you ask them to cancel their order if they've changed their mind. Ebay doesn't seem to be motivated to address these issues. This is 2 in the last 2 weeks. Total nonsense. I guess I'm just venting. I've had 4 of these situations in the last several months.

·2 years agoThe buyer has 4 calendar days to pay. On the 5th day (I interpret that as immediately after the 5th midnight, counting the day of the transaction as day 0) a new reason to cancel the transaction shows up in the cancellation form (should be a link under more actions in your list of transactions, e.g. on your Seller Hub) that the buyer didn't pay. Do that and the buyer gets a strike (eBay stopped using that term but it fits, except it only takes 2) that counts towards the Buyer Requirement sellers can enable to block serial non-payers. It also could affect their buying limits in general.
Do not send messages (and ESPECIALLY not invoices, which can reset the payment deadline and therefore when you can cancel). Also especially do NOT "ask them to cancel their order if they've changed their mind" since only the seller can cancel, a buyer can only request to cancel a transaction. eBay sends plenty of reminders, more from the seller just ticks them off.
