Non-Existant Tracking Numbers
I place twice in a row, to different sellers, orders for litium quarter size batteries. None of them arrived. I did receive refund from the sellers, however.
The question is why those orders never arrived? What could be the reason? Each of the order was accompanied with tracking numbers. However, the message about the numbers was useless as neither of the seller had any tracking numbers on their end when I inquired about them.
Anyone has the explanation?

Mentor1 year ago@zplake Might have been the same seller that you were buying from with two different accounts.
Sounds like a seller might have been using a drop shipping method that fell through.
There are rules that sellers must follow when drop shipping. Sellers are only supposed to drop ship from a supplier that they have a contract with.
Sellers are not supposed to sell an item on ebay then buy it from another site and have that site ship it to you.
I'm glad you got your refund without any trouble. I know you'd rather have had the item you purchased.

OP1 year agoI was able to reach eBay by phone. Not a simple task these days. They sandbagged themself pretty well. Theie bot chat is useless, however, unless you ask a standard question.
Anyway, as eBay's system is producing, after an order is placed, a message stating that a tracking number is available, per the process, the seller supposed to provide that number. But it appears that some sellers while offering low prices are cutting their shipping expense and don't follow the process. They just drop ship small packages, in this case it is likely an envelope with few small litium batteries, and supply just a fictious numbers to the system. That is why the numbers are dysfunctional. USPS tracking program can't find them in their database.

Mentor1 year agoeBay's system does NOT automatically say a tracking number is available. Sellers, however, are not required to ship with tracking as it's for the sellers protection to prove delivery.
Some tracking numbers from other sites do not integrate into eBay's system and will not show any updates, I suspect that this is the case for your situation.
You just have to file a refund request within 30 days of the last estimated delivery date to receive a refund.
If a seller wishes to ship without tracking they just mark the item shipped. When a seller ships without tracking or tracking that does not work on eBay they are always required to refund the buyer if the item is late arriving.
