Non commitment bidding
My question is how can someone bid all week long and at the end of auction out bid 3 other buyers then contact me and say she wasn't bidding it was on automatic? Then eBay does nothing to protect the seller?

·2 years agoIf you mean the winner of the chaise longue s/he did not bid "all week long", his/her first bid was about 6 hours before the end. S/he lied about the "automatic" part: S/he placed 7 separate bids over about 45 minutes, the first 5 within a minute and a quarter, nibbling with the minimum bid each time, then came back 40something minutes after the 5th bid and (with the minimum again) tied the leader at $150.00 (tie goes to the earlier bid) and then 11 seconds later placed a bid in an amount we can't know for sure, and nobody else bid after s/he started the process. It was very deliberate nibbling with time to think and decide to continue before the tying and winning bid.
But all you can do is wait out the 4 calendar days and cancel for non-payment after 12:01 a.m. PDT Thursday so s/he gets a strike and others can block him/her if s/he stiffs or has stiffed another seller who did the same (as opposed to cancel at his/her request which pretty much lets them off the hook) and add him/her to your Block Bidder/Buyer List. The non-payment can also affect his/her buying limits.

Mentor2 years ago@twoequal69 They could have placed a high max bid which automatically kept bidding for them against the other bidders.
As a fellow seller I know how frustrating non paying buyers can be.
When a buyer doesn't pay you can cancel the sale after 4 FULL DAYS so on the 5th day cancel as buyer hasn't paid. This gives the non-paying buyer a strike on their account and they also will not be able to leave feedback. Then you relist OR do a second chance offer. You can relist by selecting sell similar from the drop down menu next to the sold item, it was sold just not paid for. OR do a second chance offer to the next highest bidder.
If the buyer receives 2 or more strikes in 12 months then they are blocked from auctions or best offers for one year ( as long as the seller sets this up in account settings) and can only make immediate payment purchases, if they get too many strikes then eBay may remove the buyer from the site.
Do not send an invoice or it starts the clock over again for when you cancel as buyer hasn't paid. eBay sends payment reminders.

Have you set up your buyer requirements in account settings?
Click this link: https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/buyerrequirements Then block buyers with 2 or more unpaid items in 12 months.
If you are not shipping internationally also block buyers in locations you do not ship to.
Then at the bottom of the screen look for buyer Payment Requirements put a check next to>>
Require buyers to provide a payment method before they make an offer.
These settings will cut down on your non paying buyer issues.
