No returns and still screwed.
Summary: farfromgone420 expressed frustration over a transaction on eBay where they sold a drone and the buyer's claims led to an unwanted return and refund. Despite marking the item as 'No Returns Accepted', eBay facilitated a return and refunded the buyer, charging farfromgone420 for shipping costs. mr_lincoln responded by explaining eBay's Money Back Guarantee policy, which often overrides 'No Return' policies, and suggested reporting the buyer for record purposes. They also advised on potential partial refunds and considering a return policy in the future.
Im livid! I sold a drone on ebay for over half the original price. Buyer got ahold of me with several so called complaints, that it was missing pieces (which we found to not be the case), that "it smelled bad" (which is mot applicable for this item and also not true) says the item was not new, which it is and has never been turned on or flown due to having to be registered via FAA prior to flying. The buyer lied! The buter misused the policy! I listed the item with No Returns Accepted! Ebay told the buter to return the item. No timeline as to when.I answered ebay with my dispute to them telling buyer to do so. I got NO ANSWER! I waited 10 days or so before calling because the item sat unmoved, not in route back to me...then suddenly its been picked up! I received the item back at my home today and I wasn't hone to examine the item and its contents but then see that Ebay has refunded the buyer ALL of the money associated with this item!!! I want to dispute this BIGTIME and NOW! But the item is not listed in my dashboard to dispute and they're saying i don't get a chance to inspect the returned item for issues and i can't dispute it because I asked them to step in AND I did NOT ask them to step in therefore, i should NOT be the one taking the hit for it! I submitted my dispute when they said they told buyer to return and I DID NOT get fair represented or reviewed before they screwed me over! Now its saying I owe $116 to ebay because I now have to pay for shipping to the buyer (which was their responsibility) as well as, them shipping it back (which i DID NOT ask for or authorize or agree to) my listing was no returns accepted! What's my recourse now??? Im fighting this every bit because its every bit unfair!!!

-First, Buyers are protected by the eBay MBG: eBay Money Back Guarantee policy
They don't have to be honest about the reason(s) for a return but many reasons force you as the Seller to pay for the return shipping label. With the DEFAULT No return policy if you try to decline the return eBay can be asked to step in, refund the Buyer, let them keep the item and give your account a defect for not resolving an issue.
-We have seen this comment many times over they years, " I listed the item with No Returns Accepted!" The reality is that that policy has a very narrow window where it actually applies, like for a remorse return reason.
-If your funds were on Hold eBay would have charged your back up payment method to refund the Buyer. The charge for the return label shows up after delivery back to you is confirmed with tracking.
-The DEFAULT return policy on eBay listing tools is NO returns, it sends the wrong message to both Sellers and Buyers. Many Sellers think they are immune from returns when the truth is something else. Inexperienced Buyers may see that policy and go look for Sellers who accept returns in once capacity or another.
You should also use the Report Buyer link on the Sold item so eBay has record of the issue with the Buyer.
-Sellers do have some protections that may apply depending on what happens on a return ... like withhold the original shipping the Buyer paid and up to 50% of the original item's sale price. It is not perfect but it helps cuts one's loss. Seller protections | eBay
Hopefully you will be able to sell the item again. Really sorry all of that happened but if there is no link to Appeal a decision then you will have to accept what happened and move on. You may also want to consider Accepting returns in the future. Appeal the outcome of a case as a seller | eBay
