No return request made
I had a buyer return 2 XXL shirts that he had purchased from me in early Sept. (He received them on 9/12 and 9/13) He sent them in a box (received on 10/10) with a letter stating that they were too small even though he said he wore this same brand in an XL. He also stated in this letter that they were possibly shrunk by previous owner so therefore they were not as described. My listing has the measurements listed. He reached out to me on 9/15 stating they were too small and that he was rusty on Ebay's return procedures. I I suggested that he go to my store page and open a return request and he would be walked thru the process. He responded the next day that he was trying to figure how to send them together to save us both some money. I responded tht since he bought them separately he would have to send them separately. I didn't hear back until I received them back in the mail on 10/10. Any suggestions as to what I do now?

In reading your post, it seems the Buyer was doing their best to return items that did not fit. Plus they paid to return them.
Based on your return policy, I would issue a refund for both shirts. You obviously don't need to refund his return shipping costs. Whether you refund all or part of his original shipping costs is up to you.

OP10 months agoI agree but where can I do that since he didn't open a return? I've tried searching for a refund option without a return request.

I would go to the Order Details for this transaction. There should be an option there to issue a refund.
