No refund of return shipping label after bogus return

I recently had a guy purchase an item (he asked to cancel after it had already shipped). He then filed a bogus defect return. When the item came back, there was no defect. Unfortunately there was no way for me to refuse the refund. I was told by an eBay rep to add the info on the bogus return in the refund transaction and that the "off-line" team would review it and I would be refunded. It's been a month and zip. How do you handle these types of issues without getting screwed?

When a Buyer opens a false INAD and the Seller reports them for that, if you are a Top Rated Seller, eBay often issues a partial refund for the Seller's cost of the return label. That may be what the Rep meant.

Sorry this happened to you. Customer service did not give you the correct information. eBay will not be refunding the return shipping charge you paid. When you report the buyer for misusing the money back guaranty all it does is to have eBay mark the buyers account for the violation. eBay does not refund you any of the money you sent back to the buyer. This is unfortunately a cost of doing sales online.
