No help from Ebay on bad buyers
I’ve sold about 5 items this year on ebay. In 2 of those sells I had no payment. 40% failure rate. I don’t see any way ebay is supporting me as a seller in these cases. Appears ebay doesn’t care about me and only protects bad buyers. Is my experience abnormal, or is ebay becoming a home for bad actors?

OP3 years agoThanks for info. You would think ebay would tell me this instead of just offering a button that says “cancel and relistâ€. They have an opportunity to express frustration with me on lack of payment and tell me what they are doing. It’s a lost communication opportunity by ebay. Thanks again

The only things I would recommend against is sending reminders yourself or additional invoices. eBay already sends reminders, and each time you send an invoice, eBay extends the time before you can cancel the order.

Mentor3 years agoIf you cancelled those transactions for non-payment, eBay took action against the buyers. If you didn't, you allowed them off the hook.
If a buyer hasn't paid by day five, select the cancellation option in the dropdown next to the order using the reason that the buyer hasn't paid. The buyer will earn an unpaid item strike on his account. Two or more and his ability to buy will be limited or even ended.
Add the buyer to your blocked buyer list here:

Scroll down that page and turn on the option to auto-block buyers with 2 or more unpaid items within 12 months. That will help to protect you from repeat offenders.
To avoid non-payers completely, list as fixed price (no auctions, no best offers) and turn on the option in the listing form to Require Immediate Payment.
