No damage, but a claim that that new item purchased is defective
I have a buyer claiming that one earbud of a pair of Samsung Galaxy Earbuds sold is not working. The only problem is that the earbuds were brand new and factory sealed - and I have no others for a replacement.
I don't believe that the buyer should eats the cost of a malfunctioning new item, but what protections are there to keep a buyer from merely asserting the item is broken and requesting a refund? If the buyer opens a return and the returned item works, what recourse does the seller have?
I have not yet received a request for a return, just an eBay message. Any recommendations on how to handle this prospective return? Whatever assistance you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks
