I do not own a cel phone and only have VOIP landline. How to verify my account from ebay can not recieve text only phone calls.

·3 years agoA lot of web sites, you have to have a cell phone to use them now.

Mentor3 years agoI also use a land line over VoIP, no cell phone.

Mentor3 years agoYes, ebay is requiring a cell phone for new users, and now possibly for re-verifying some existing users. Even a SMS text enabled VOIP phone, mobile or not, will not work.
Microsoft and some others are doing the same. The joke is, you can use a friend's or a burner phone. So seems pretty easy for a scammer to get around the so called security reason for doing this.
Whether I have a cell number or not, is not ebay's business. They have my registered phone number and email address, not to mention SSN, EIN, bank info, etc. Just how much is too much?
