Newbie devastated I ruined my seller status
It seems after I had above average standings and became a top seller, I made a few mistakes and they are going to ruin me. Do I just quit and switch to a different platform? I’m so upset.
Basically because of an issue with how I listed my inventory on my new laptop, I listed a handful of items I didn’t have anymore. So I had to cancel 5 orders. I had no idea this could ruin my entire account. I quickly fixed the issue and I have had zero issues since. But I’m at a loss as to how I can fix this besides waiting a year!

You really can not wait a year - eBay will start restricting your ability to sell. eBay is a great site for your products, so I would not give up - lots of sellers come back from being below standard.
You need to sell enough to get your defect % below 2%. To do this, you need to sell more next month than you did 12 months ago.
Go to your dashboard and look at the oldest months. It is too late to make any substantial change to Jan 2025, but do the math to see what your defect % will be at the 2/20 evaluation. That will be Feb 2024 - Jan 2025. How many defects divided by how many sales.
Then look at Feb 2024 - that is the month that will roll off for the 3/20 evaluation, so you need to sell more in Feb 2025 than you sold Feb 2024. Do the math to see what sales it will take to get below 2% defects. You may need to boost your sales for a few months to get below 2%.
Once you know the sales you need, you need to find a way to sell extra items. Without a store, you can't run sales. I don't think they will let you subscribe to a store while you are below standard, but I haven't found a page that says that, so you might want to try. It would be worth the $8/month for a starter store to be able to run a buy one/get one x% off sale - that is a good way to sell more items quickly.
The other way is to find a small item - something that sells for just a few $ that you can sell a lot of, even if you sell them at a loss.

eBay reviews accounts on the 20th of each month, any changes in status are applied on the 20th of the following month if a change happens.
You have 99 sales in the last 90 days which is good. If you continue to sell that type of volume you may only drop in status for one month. Did they tell you what you new status will be for next month" Above standard? Below Standard?
For those 5 items, did you message the Buyers and explain the situation and ask them if they would message you to request a cancellation? I did that a number of times when eBay relisted Ghost listings, meaning they Relisted items that had already been sold. If a member asks for a cancellation you can cancel using the reason, "Buyer requested" and not get a strike on your account.

OP1 year agoIt says it will be below standard. I have about a 4% canceled rate.
