New "Rate Item" feature is incredibly stupid.
Maybe it's just me but I think the new "Rate Item" feature is beyond stupid and will likely only serve to provide a ot of irrelevant 5 star ratings. It's more than a little irritating that ebay will not let me leave feedback without also "rating the item". Often I haven't even used the item in question when I'm leaving feedback and it may take a lot of use before an item could be rated in any meaningful way. Personally the only way I can see to resist this new brain-dead feature is to just stop leaving feedback. I appreciate sellers who ship promptly and competently and I always mention that in feedback, but being forced to rate an item is just stupid. One person might buy something with absolutely unrealistic expectations and rate the item harshly while someone else might actually understand what they're buying and rate the item appropriately. So again, "Rate Item" is completely worthless because it offers no useful information to a potential buyer other than the fact that somebody wanted to leave feedback and ebay forced them to also rate the item. This is just stupid on top of stupid with a little stupid on the side, and of course some stupid dipping sauce. Mmmmmmmm, stupid.

For some items the "rate the item" section is not optional and feedback cannot be left without choosing a rating.
