"new" phone is clearly not- what do I do?
Hello- Wanted to get some community feedback. Ordered a phone that was new, factory sealed, per the ad. When I got it, the "factory sealed" box had clear sticker marks where previous 3 factory stickers were. On all other 3 corners, in fact. So the box had been used (factory seal put on it and then removed) at least 3 times as a factory sealed item. I've gotten new phones before, and the seal is on well and I usually have to cut it. This one- the manufacturer seal was poorly stuck to the box and easily peeled off vs having to cut it. When I opened it, there was a hair in the box, the cardboard looked worn, and some kind of lint in the phone grooves around the edges. Clear indicators that the phone was hardly as advertised.
However- the seller issued a refund, said it was from the "supplier" and that they had no control over what was shipped. Not sure how that would work. But, I got the refund, no problems.
Do I do anything with this? I've had very good luck over the years on ebay buying phones. I just hate to see a seller (potentially) trying to sell refurbs or damaged goods as factory sealed new items.
The return location is a residential home in suburban California per the address provided- but the ebay profile says they are from China. If they are using a "supplier" to resell, it still doesn't look like a legit seller to me based on my experience.
Is this a trustworthy seller? Should (or could I even) report it to ebay, or just accept my refund and not worry about my personal experience?

OP6 months agoAh ok, thank you for the reply. That's perfect- I attached photos and a description. the seller instructed me to select "didn't fit" but I used "not as described". Thanks

If you open a return request for Item Not As Described, then eBay takes note of the situation automatically. If you are unhappy, return the item. It sounds like it was incorrectly described.
