New eBay verification procedure is huge waste of time
As a 23 year member of eBay I have had issues with eBay policies before, but none have PO'ed me nearly as badly as the time wasting Verification procedure that is now in effect. There are available verification procedures that are quick, safe and effective involving emails, SMS, and even digikeys. To have an eBay member make a phone call to "verify" every time they sign in is nuts (and rage inducing). Before someone jumps in here to explain that I just need to allow a cookie to remain on my computer, that is NEVER going to happen. My browsers are set to clear all cookies every time they are shut down. My computers are set to clear all catches every time they are shut down. To not do that on today's internet is to increase vulnerability to every newly invented hacking threat.
I am rapidly reaching my limit. Another three or for sign-on where I am required to waste up to 15 minutes on hold is going to result in my leaving eBay for other venues.
Grrrrrrr.

Mentor2 years agoI suspect that there is more to this than just a refusal to retain cookies.
I can erase my cookies, or even go to a new computer on a different network entirely and not have to go through phone verification to sign in to my eBay account.
There may be something particular about your setup -- using a certain type of VPN or a hotspot, for instance, or certain kinds of privacy software -- that is causing eBay to require additional verification from you that most folks do not need to provide.
If there is absolutely nothing special about your setup or your network connection, then eBay may have reason to believe that someone other than you is signing in to your account, such as simultaneous sign-ins from different geographic locations.
