New eBay Seller SCAM - eBay unwilling to help 20+ year Buyer
I purchased a bulky 4lb item from a “new†ebay Seller. The Seller sent a flat “empty†package to an address in the same city/state/zip code as mine and claims they delivered it to me. When I call the local and national USPS numbers they confirm that the Seller’s USPS tracking number was delivered to an address in the same city/state/zip code as me, but NOT to me, or to my address. I filed a claim and explained this to eBay in the claim, but eBay denied my claim because the Seller/Scammer has a USPS tracking number that shows deliver to my “city/state/zip codeâ€â€”USPS tracking numbers do not show the actual street address, this is the NEW SCAM!!! Now I’ve tried to contact eBay and speak with a Human, so we can call USPS together, and give USPS agent the Seller’s tracking number and to verify to eBay Customer Service that the package was not delivered to me or my street address, so eBay can refund me my full purchase amount. The local USPS knew if this “new†scam and even provided a photo of the Seller’s “flat†package with the Seller’s tracking number, and the wrong Name and Address—not mine, but the same city/state/zip code, so I can prove that tracking number did not go to me or my address. How do I get a human to respond to my calls, claim, and appeal to eBay? This would be a quick five minute call to resolve, I could share the picture of the Seller’s package, and we could simply call the national or local USPS to prove the Seller’s tracking number has nothing to do with me, or the eBay item that should have been shipped to me, outside of it being a SCAM. I have had an account with eBay for nearly 25 years, 100% Positive feedback, spent $7,500+ on eBay and sold thousands of dollars worth of stuff—I think eBay owes me a call from a human for at least five minutes.

You can avoid many fake tracking issues by choosing to only do business with experienced sellers that have a proven track record of delivering similar items as seen by examining the seller's feedback page, and by avoiding inexperienced sellers, sellers with patterns of negative feedback indicating serious problems, or sellers with large gaps in the selling history or recent drastic changes of seller behavior.

Mentor2 years agoYou'll need to obtain written confirmation from USPS that the package was not addressed to you. Ask them to email that to you.
