New Buyer - Possible Fraud
A buyer who just opened their account today purchased a $2500 item from me. How do I know it's not fraud and what protection do I have?

You sold that item with the eBay Authenticity Guarantee, here is the Help page on that topic: Selling with Authenticity Guarantee | eBay
Sales over $ 750 require signature delivery confirmation.
Make sure you add enough insurance to the shipping label.
Any returns filed have to go back through the Authenticity center, that is another layer of protection for you.

OP2 weeks agoThanks for the response. I do understand all that as I have sent items to the Authenticators in the past. My concern is that the buyer receives the item, then disputes it with their credit card company. Someone who opens an account and purchases a $2500 item the same day just doesn't sit right with me. There should be a rule where new buyers are only allowed to start with small purchases for a period of time to establish themselves. Prior to the authentication process I sent an expensive item out that was signed for, but the buyer stated she didn't sign for it and didn't know who did, and she was the only person that lived at that address. Thankfully ebay did not side with her because of the signature... but people will be people, and fraud is more prevalent these days.

Mentor2 weeks ago · EditedFor $2,500 worth of goods, add full-value insurance or ShipCover for added protection.
If the item is high-value or fragile, choose a tracked, insured service and avoid economy options.
Send signature required upon delivery.
