New, but smelly item

Question

I ordered a pair of new with tags Ski pant for my Granddaughter. It arrived with tags yes, but smells like a musty basement. I contacted the seller and she said I should air it out or wash it. I do not want to wash a new item and then compromise its waterproofing on ski pants. I am airing it out, but we all know a smelly musty item is not going to "air out"

I agreed to give it day outside, but cant use in the meanwhile. Any ideas?

If you do not wish to keep the item, file a Return Request within 30 days of delivery. Within 30 days from date of delivery, go to your Purchase History, find the item, and under â€œMore actionsâ€ click on â€œReturn itemâ€ and select the reason for the return. â€œdoesn't match descriptionâ€œ. Attach a photo. IF your request is approved, the seller will have 3 business days to either accept the return and provide a prepaid return shipping label OR refund without having you return the item. If they don't do either, you can go back to your Return Request details 4 business days after you filed the Request and ask Ebay to step in.
