ebay is now requiring a payment method when buyers Make Offers or place bids, so the buyer will automatically be charged if the seller accepts the offer, or if the buyer ends up the winner of an auction. They are doing this to try and reduce unpaid transactions. The default for sellers is to require auto pay, but sellers can opt out by going to their buyer requirements.
No. It did not. You DID give permission for the payment when you made the offer. The language is not hidden and it is just above the button you clicked to submit the offer.
i am very upset. you, ebay, paid for an item without my permission!!!!

At some point, you selected that payment source for purchases. You may not realize or remember doing this, but you absolutely did. eBay does not choose for you.
Now, upon completion of a buy-it-now purchase, or in the event of an auction winning bid, that buyer-chosen payment source is charged.
