New AirPods with Original Purchase Date Back in Dec 2021
I just purchased a pair of AirPods marked as brand new. Upon running the serial number through the Apple system, I found out that the item had been originally purchased in Dec 2021. Lithium-ion batteries, which are used in AirPods, are known to have a shelf life of 2-3 years. The seller did not disclose that the item was aged. Does this violate eBay's policy and make the product eligible for return and refund? I want to return the product, but it was purchased as non-returnable.

Mentor1 year ago@middstudent. A sellers listing can not be misleading.
Sorry your item is not as described.
The eBay Money Back Guarantee over rules the sellers return policy. You have 30 days from the date of delivery to file a not as described return request.
Here's what you need to do:
Open a return with the reason doesn't match description or photos. The Airpods are not new like the seller said.
Select the return item button on this page:
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/return-item-refund?id=4041&st=
4 business days after filing the return request if the seller has not provided a return shipping label or a full refund then ask eBay to step in and help: https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/ask-ebay-to-step-in?id=4701
Let me know if you need to return an item to another country as there are additional steps required. The seller pays return shipping for an item that is not as described no matter where they are located.

OP1 year agoThanks for the reply. Just to be clear, the AirPods did arrive in a sealed and unopened box. It's just the fact that they were manufactured over 2.5 years ago, which is the maximum life span of the battery, according to most sources.
