Negotiating a second chance offer/cancel my listing?
Hi all, new seller here, and the items I've sold in the past have worked fine as planned. This time, the winning bidder did not pay after the allotted time and after several prompts he asked to cancel the order 5 days later after he won it.
So I canceled the order and checked the option to relist the item. So now it's relisted as an auction and with a buy-it-now price.
I ALSO sent a second chance offer to the next highest bidder, who is interested but asked if I'd take a little lower price. No problem for me, but what about the relist/auction I started? Just cancel that re-listing and deal with the second-chance buyer?
And if we agree on a price that was NOT the second chance price I sent him... how does eBay recognize that and clock it as an official sale and then send me shipping info (these are Nike shoes that are going to the authentication center, but I assume I'll get that shipping address once I make that sale, yes?)
So I feel like I should've either sent the second chance offer OR re-listed, but doing both made things messy. And I still don't know where to ship it. But maybe because it hasn't officially sold yet.

OP3 years agoYep. Got it. Yeah, I canceled the listing before anyone bid (thank goodness), told the buyer the SCO was the price that got sent to him (he still wanted to haggle)... and then have heard nothing back. So I'm going to cancel that SCO and relist with a Buy it Now price... and so it goes, haha!

·3 years agoSCO's are not negotiable. eBay sets the price at the highest showing bid of that bidder (except in the case of Reserve Not Met in Motor Vehicles and one or two other high priced categories where the seller can set it up to the Reserve Price amount when making the offer--and it's still non-negotiable after that).
You are correct that you should not have done both an SCO and relisted. If s/he accepts it you'd need to end the auction listing without a winner, which incurs a fee if there was a bid on it (the FVF% times the highest cancelled fee, waived one time per calendar year). And if there is a Buy It Now on it you either need to revise that away or end the listing before it gets taken. Having 2 paying winners when you only have one item gets you a defect.
