Negative review removed
I left a negative review for a purchase I made recently. The watch I purchased broke within four weeks and the seller informed me that there was nothing he could do to assist me. I wrote the review detailing this information, nothing disparaging or spiteful. Then my review was removed. Why does this happen? Seems like a scam if the seller can subjectively have negative reviews removed. Interestingly, the seller has only 100% positive reviews…I’ll bet there have been other negative reviews that were removed. This does not seem fair on the part of eBay, as negative reviews are an important part of the decision making process when purchasing.

If the watch broke within four weeks of receiving it, you could have filed a return request for a full refund. Did you do that?
You can still file a claim with PayPal or your credit card company.
I don’t know why the feedback was removed.

OP2 years agoThanks for your reply house*of*paws, much appreciated. I’m more concerned about the removal of my review, which absolutely did not violate any eBay policies. The watch is somewhat hard to find, so going through the return process and finding another one is slightly daunting. And there’s no guarantee that the process would be successful for me. I’ll get the watch fixed at my expense and be happy that I have a fully functioning watch that I’ll enjoy for years. The negative review being removed is definitely skewed toward the seller, and this feels just plain wrong. This leaves me (and likely many others) thinking that the reviews for sellers are likely inaccurate at best, and not truthful at worst. This reminds of the Yelp situation many years ago where you could “pay†to have less than stellar reviews removed.

·2 years agoWhat do you feel the seller should have done?
Did he make the watch? Did he break the watch?
Negative feedback can be removed if it violates policy in some way.

OP2 years agoThanks for your reply conservitvs. My post was about the negative review being removed when it definitely did not violate any policies. It was not really focused on what the seller could have done, though he certainly could and should have worked with me to get the issue fixed. He did not make the watch, nor did he break it (at least not that I’m aware of). The watch was listed as being in excellent condition though, and in my book that should mean no current issues with the piece. The winding crown and stem both fell out, after me owning it for only four weeks. This is unacceptable in my world. However, I realize purchasing items on eBay is ultimately a “you get what you get†situation…and this situation bears that out. I’ll get the watch fixed at my expense and call it a day, not the end of the world or even enough to make for a bad day. The removal of my review is much more disconcerting though, just doesn’t seem right. Thanks again for your input.
