Negative Feedback Timeframe and Process
I had a seller leave a negative feedback for a damaged item. It could have been damaged during shipment, but no details were shared. The buyer never contacted me prior to leaving it. I also offered to replace as I had another item to replace it but not response either. I know things happen, and you cannot please all buyers, but when you work hard for 100% and someone comes along to disrupt this, its very unfortunate.
I did challenge it, but the buyer of course did not respond to the inquiry.
Question:
------------
Should eBay not allow buyers to leave negative feedback until the buyer contacts the seller to resolve?
Does anyone else agree and any sense if this has been discussed in ebay forums in the past?
It appears eBay has moved to favoring the buyer and less towards the seller who works hard to list, pack and ship to keep eBay in business. Sellers have less control of the interpretation from the buyer, and can only accept a negative without much recourse if a buyer does not respond or communicate.
I believe currently buyers cannot leave until after 7 days of receipt of an item, but not sure that does much.

OP4 months agoAgree, but eBay should confirm if buyer contacts the seller via my Messages or send the seller a message in advance in these instance to try and rectify beforehand. Buyer never contacted--even though they said they did after the 7 days.
I also cannot leave a negative for the buyer "poor communication" as someone may want to avoid selling to them in the future.
Lot's of changes within eBay aid the buyer experience and protecting --which is good, but hard working sellers have little recourse and or protection when working to please so many buyers (especially if you sell a huge array of products). Just venting and looking to see how to work to change this.
I honestly dont believe a 99.4 or 100% feedback will change a buyers decision--at least not mine as still very high, but frustrating that in a split second 100% is gone and nothing can do about it.

Mentor4 months agoYou are a top rated seller. Therefore, when a buyer goes to leave neutral or negative feedback, they are asked if they have contacted the seller. That is why it takes 7 days before the buyer can leave feedback. It's to give time to work things out with the buyer. It's good that you replied to the neg so that buyers can see your side of the story.
