Negative feedback for deadbeat buyers
Why has eBay taken away the sellers ability to post negative feedback for buyers? I had a deadbeat buyer that outbid other potential buyers on not 1, but 2, of my items. THEN, would not respond messages, ignored the invoice, never sent 1 message... and never paid. Had to cancel the order and register, buy only after waiting eBay certain amount of days. THEN, I couldn't even warn other sellers about this buyer, because eBay took away the negative feedback option. I looked at this deadbeats feedback. .. there were positive feedbacks that were negative feedbacks warning other sellers about this same situation. 9, yes 9 of them in the past year. Yet, this guy has 100 percent feedback. I even called in to eBay trying to find out how to leave negative feedback for this laser. Ha, yeah right. Was told if I could verify who I was that eBay would leave negative feedback for this guy on my behalf. REALLY ??? Now eBay thinks they can take away my freedom of speech and speak for me, on my behalf? Come on people! Why can't we leave negative feedback if it's deserved as sellers? And why are we tolerating eBay doing this? Geez, the world is going to poop.
inceptions
Mentor3 years agoeBay took away the ability to leave negative feedback in the spring of 2008 - 15 years ago. All buyers have 100% positive feedback.
You are expected to cancel transactions for non-payment so that non-payers receive strikes on their accounts. Two or more within a year will limit or end their ability to continue buying
Most sellers don't even look at buyer feedback received as it basically functions as a thank you. They evaluate buyers by looking at the feedback the buyer receives. You protect yourself from repeat offenders by auto-blocking buyers with 2 or more strikes within a year. When you add this buyer to your blocked buyer list, scroll down the page and turn on that option:

eBay cannot leave negative feedback for a buyer (or any other kind for that matter).
You can thank the sellers who violated policy by leaving negative comments instead of following the correct process to cancel for non-payment as you likely wouldn't have had to deal with this buyer if they had done the right thing.
Your freedom of speech has nothing to do with what you are allowed to say on eBay's website. To use the site, you are subject to the user agreement.
