Negative Feedback
Has anyone out there ran across this situation and been able to have eBay remove the feedback? The negative feedback from the buyer did not violate any of the policies listed forThe feedback that the buyer left me. eBay's feedback , but there are some additional issues that still should be addressed in feedback policies. This is my side of the issue and I sure would like some feedback because I feel like this feedback is obscure and injust for any seller of this platform. I was revising some of my listings when I had posted a wrong price on a listing by a mistype. Instead of listing my four double walled tea cups with free shipping for 40 dollars the listing read 4 dollars instead. It had been a recent revision and sold readily to the buyer. It was a buy it now and not an auction listing. When I saw the sale I immediately canceled it. I, as a seller on eBay for many years know that sometimes sellers do not always get their ads correct. I ask was I wrong not to contact seller before I canceled this sale? I think common sense would have told ME that the listing was a typing mishap, or mistake and as a seller, as the buyer is, reached out to let the author of the listing know there was a mistake on a listing of yours. The four large teacups were selling for fours dollars including shipping. Please look at my relisted teacups and let me know if you think you could buy them for four dollars including shipping. We sellers need to be a community and decent human beings for each other. That this ebay seller did not recognize the defect in this listing has really blown my mind. I can maybe understand an outside buyer, but an ebay seller leaving such a negative feedback for any honest obvious mistake. I am dumbfounded. Where has common sense gone? Please, I need your help. I would love your comments and communication. Reselling would end real quick for this old lady who supplements her social security with eBay. Many times the eBay money is my groceries. I would go hungry if I pay people on ebay to have my items...lol. Thanks for your time. Lonimae

·2 years agoHi @lonimae We've all made mistakes like that, been there. But we all have to own our mistakes like that because that was what was advertised to buyers.
You might send a very polite, kind apology to the buyer for not talking to them about it before cancelling. Note how they said they would have agreed if you had, and so presumably would have been understanding and not so upset about your mistake.
Nicely ask the buyer (don't demand or guilt trip) if they'd be willing to revise the feedback. We're allowed only 5 feedback revision requests per year, so don't send one until you know the buyer is willing.
Sending a feedback revision request:

We all have to follow eBay's rules for seller performance standards. We can cancel for a mistake like this, but doing that earns a transaction defect against your seller performance. You should be OK with having only 1 mistake like this on your record.
This is the direct link to the info about transaction defects for cancelling. My advice is to also click through all the links and read everything about seller performance requirements:

Hope this helps - I know it's maybe not what you wanted to hear.

OP2 years agoI asked the buyer for a retraction. I knew it was fruitless.

·2 years agoAh, sorry I didn't see your additional post. You can leave a calm, professional reply to the feedback (it's at the link I posted for requesting a revision).
Word it very carefully with customer service in mind, because you're talking to potential buyers. Write it out and think about it before replying to feedback.

OP2 years agoIn part Ebay is to blame. On my listings page the listing was a buy it now. I found out it was an auction. Another glitch for eBay. Not what I wanted to hear, but your opinion is noted. His feedback was assumptive and not true. I have never left negative feedback since 1998. I just leave it alone. I am old and tired of being kicked.

OP2 years agoI relisted it awhile ago and went back into listing and it was an auction again. Beware so you aren't kicked. I have over 400 listings and they are all "Buy it Now." At least I hope so.

OP2 years agoWow! The buyer had a mistype in his negative feedback. Instead of "sale" he typed "sell." How easy it is to do huh?

OP2 years agoWhat feedback did I need from the buyer to cancel a listing of four teacups with free shipping for FOUR dollars?

OP2 years agoYa think I thought the price was to low? It was a Buy it Now.
