Needed to return - seller asking to cancel return since they gave me label?
Summary: mremayinin shared an experience about requesting a refund on eBay after mistakenly purchasing an item with a slightly different item number. They received a shipping label from the seller but were asked to cancel the return to avoid generating a second label. comics-scifi-collectibles advised only to use the return label from the case to ensure a refund and mentioned that the seller could have included their own label in the case if preferred.
So I had been monitoring for an item with a specific item number, and I suppose through looking at 100s of them eventually I thought I found one at good price but it turned out to have a slightly different item number(same in other ways) so requested a refund, then sent a message explaining why, they responded to message with shipping label, and asked if I could cancel the other one so it doesn't generate a second label. This is of course sketchy since eBay warns that I have no recourse if I close the return, and I also do not want to pay for shipping as I was already scouring items to save money.

Only use the return label from the case. The tracking for that label is in the case and the seller will be required to refund you within 2 business days of the item being delivered back to the seller. They could have supplied their own label in the case if they wanted to do that.
If the label they sent in messages is not used they can contact whoever they got it from for a refund.

OP1 month agoThanks - yeah i had no intention of canceling it due to the warning it gave, was just curious if it could be easily remedied, thankfully I did a call to eBay and they were able to add the label to the return notes in case the timeframe elapses with no label.
