Need to purchase shipping label so buyer can return item
Summary: finnishtart is facing an issue where a refund was processed, but the system glitched, preventing the purchase of a return label for a buyer. Additionally, they were mistakenly charged twice for a sending label. Despite the buyer's cooperation, eBay's AI assistance is unhelpful. mudshark61369 suggested alternative ways to handle return labels and emphasized understanding eBay's Money Back Guarantee. finnishtart clarified that the buyer had filed a return request, and despite charges being made, no return label was issued. They are seeking advice on contacting an appropriate eBay department due to their inability to call from outside the US.
Hi,
I am in a bit of an usual situation. I had a buyer ask for a refund and while performing the refund the system appears to have glitched. The buyer received the refund but did not receive the label, the case is considered closed by Ebay and now I am unable to purchase a return label for my buyer. In a failed attempt to buy another label Ebay actually charged me TWICE for the same sending label not return. The buyer is being really helpful but Ebay's AI assistant's keep leading me in a circle. How can I cancel the sending label I clearly do not need and successfully purchase a return label for my buyer?

You should not have refunded until you sent the buyer a return shipping label and received the item back. Since you did refund you cannot generate a return label through ebay.
What you should have done was to tell your buyer to file a return request, by going to the More actions button in their purchase history, then you could have sent them a return shipping label through ebay.
All you can try to do now is to ask if they will return the item if you send them a return shipping label. If they agree, then using the outbound shipping details get a shipping label from the USPS site and mail it to them. Unfortunately, the return shipping cost will be higher, because you will not get the ebay discount and the Holiday season shipping rate surcharge starts today.
You really need to read the terms of ebay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG)! It is as important for sellers to know its terms as it is for buyers to know them. You can open the link below to see how you should have responded. FYI, A no returns policy does not stand in the face of the MBG if a return for damaged, not as described, reasons.

OP5 days agoI mean it did not go exactly like that-the buyer filed a return request and after I honored it I clicked on a button stating I wanted to purchase a return label. The system then appeared to freeze-in various places I could see it said I purchased a return label and I was even charged on my bank account for one. YET I have no label and I cant contact Ebay by phone because I am out of the US. Here are some screen shots I took-Perhaps if someone could redirect me an Ebay department I could email with.
