need to issue a refund a buyer for an item no longer available, missed the 3 day limit to cancel
I am not able to cancel and send a refund for an item that I found was not available for sale after buyer had already paid. The transaction did not get canceled by the 3 day time limit to do so and now the customer thinks I am trying to rip him off. I have send many email to him explaining that I will gladly send him a refund but do not know how to get it to go through. The item has a Illinois address to ship to but the buyer is from Canada so there is an ebay virtual tracking number. I state in all my listing that I ship to the 48 states only but since the shipping address was in Illinois it automatically went through the international system without me knowing it. How can I get the customer a refund to get this settled and keep my over 25 year 100% selling feedback that I have worked so hard to maintain?

Mentor8 months ago@bmbcar I apologize for the mistaken advice I gave.
I edited this reply with an answer that is to the best of my knowledge. B
Some have found that you can still go the sold listing and select send refund from the drop down menu next to the item.
If for some reason that doesn't work then your buyer will need to file a not received refund request when it is one day PAST the last estimated delivery date.
Then you can issue a refund from the case.

I thought once the seller didn't 'accept' the buyer's cancel request in 3 days, that they were blocked from cancelling & issuing a refund in the usual way - isn't that what the seller is asking?
"If you don't respond within the 3 calendar days, we'll close the buyer's cancellation request. If the buyer hasn't paid, then the order will be canceled automatically. If the buyer has paid, you'll need to fulfill the order."

Mentor8 months ago@ferncliff-39 Sorry, my mistake I didn't notice that buyer had asked to cancel

Mentor8 months ago@comics-scifi-collectibles - seller says they don't have the item to ship - that's what started the whole thing.
@bmbcar - please clarify if you HAVE the item to ship, or that you don't want to ship it because it's international?
Also...who keeps marking these posts BA so fast and why, without letting the OP respond first?
This is the 2nd time on this thread already.

Mentor8 months ago@ferncliff-39. Sorry, not at my best. Not sleeping much.
I am going to stay off the boards.
If they have nothing to ship then they can try contacting customer service to see if they can force a refund.
Or the buyer will have to wait until after the last estimated delivery date and file a not received refund request.... not sure if that will work though

RE: "it automatically went through the international system without me knowing it."
The eIS int'l shipping program is a good one - you only ship & deliver to the U.S. hub and are done with it. eBay handles everything else and is liable for anything that happens after that.
You are opted in on your Shipping Prefs here - https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf - but may want to consider staying in.
As for the Cancel, there is an issue with the 3-day limit if you don't accept it, but I'm not familiar with how to get the refund sent in that case.
@comics-scifi-collectibles - can you help with this?
