Need Help Resolving Unfair Fee Charges for Uncompleted Sale
I’m reaching out because I’m facing an issue with an unresolved case that has resulted in me being charged $1,189.56 in promotion and final value fees for a transaction that was never completed. The item in question was never sold or shipped due to damage, and I had reached out to the buyer and eBay support multiple times to cancel the order before a case was even opened. Despite my efforts, the case was still open, and a refund was issued to the buyer, but I have been charged $1,189.56 fees for a sale that didn’t happen.
I’m really in need of some help and guidance from the community. Has anyone experienced something similar, and if so, how were you able to resolve it? Who should I escalate this issue to within eBay? Can I consider legal action if this is not resolved soon,
Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

Mentor1 year agoGenerally any reason you cancel or refund you would get final value fees and promotional fees credited back.

It sounds like you didn't cancel yourself and a case was opened eBay forced the refund. In a situation like that fees are not credited back.

When a seller initiates the cancellation, it makes for an unhappy buyer. There are penalties for making a buyer unhappy. That breaks down to eBay keeping the fees and the seller receiving a defect against their account. The buyer can also leave negative feedback.
It’s an expensive lesson, for sure.
