Need help in being reimbursed for incorrect parts. Seller cannot be contacted or is not on Ebay any longer.
Summary: paualle16 shared their experience of purchasing hydraulic struts for a Mercedes 500SL from a seller in China. They faced issues with calibration due to wrong-sized hoses, and a specialist determined the struts were incorrect. Attempts to contact the seller have failed, and they seek advice for recouping their losses after spending $4,000 total. jacbarcollectibles suggested checking with the payment processor for a chargeback, as eBay’s guarantee period has likely expired.
I purchased hydraulic struts for a 2004 mercedes benz 500SL from a seller in China. I received the struts in the middle of August. Took them directly to a local shop for installation. during the testing phase, they were unable to calibrate them. The new struts had the wrong size hoses (8 mm to large) and had to be replaced by the old hoses from the old struts. the original shop said that if I took my car to a specialist, they might be able to determine what's wrong. The new shop specializes in mercedes 500sl's. The new shop was unable to calibrate the struts because they could not get past the plunger tests on the struts. In their opinion, they were the wrong struts and will need to be replaced. I tried contacting the seller for the last week and I am unable to send a message via "purchase history". Looks like the seller does not exist. Thes struts cost $2500 and I have spent an additional $1500 in labor and fluids for both shops. These struts supposed to come with a 2 year warranty.
Do I have any recourse in trying to get reimbursed or even trying to contact the seller. On purchase history, the sellers' email says a name "xxxxxx@DELETED". This does not look good to me. I am not an ebay expert....I need advice in recouping my losses.

Mentor1 week agoSorry this happened to you. eBay's money back guaranty is only good for 30 days from receipt so you are most likely past any help from eBay. Check with your payment processor to see if you can file a charge back. Keep in mind that neither eBay or your payment processor can get you any more money than you originally paid for eh item
