Need help
Good evening, I made a purchase on eBay for an item listed as used but in excellent condition, with no returns accepted. The item is a memory card for a Nintendo Switch 2, and it does not work in the console, so it is defective. I sent video and photo evidence to eBay. The seller is requesting that I return the item, but the international return shipping cost would be higher than the value of the item, so returning it is not a viable option for me. Therefore, I kindly request a full refund without having to return the defective item. The purchase was made on February 1, and I have until March 2 to return it. I would like eBay to step in and assist, but the option has not appeared yet. I am concerned because the deadline is approaching. Thank you for your help.

For a "not as described" return, the seller is required to pay for return shipping in advance.
If the seller will not cooperate, ask eBay to step in at the earliest opportunity once three business days have passed since opening the case.

OP6 months agoThank you for your help. After checking the status of my case, it says “my action is required,” meaning I need to return the item. However, eBay has not given me the option to ask eBay to step in yet. The seller provided a USPS return label, which is only valid within the United States. I am located in Panama, so this would be an international return, and the shipping cost would be higher than the value of the item. Is there any other way to request eBay’s intervention if the option is not available yet? I would appreciate any guidance on how to proceed in this situation.

Mentor6 months agoDid you have the item shipped directly to you in Panama from the seller? If you had the item forwarded after it was delivered to the shipping address used on eBay, you may have lost your eBay money back guarantee by doing so.
The seller is required to provide return shipping from the location the seller shipped the item to.

Hi! Thanks for helping me. The due date was March 3. I had to ship the item on or before that day. The problem is that the option to request eBay to step in does not appear anywhere on my case page. I believe I may have already lost the case. Also, when I click on “cancel return” to try to explain the situation, I have not completed it because if I cancel, the case will be closed. So I have not been able to find any option that allows eBay to step in. I honestly don’t know what to do, as the option to ask eBay to step in does not appear anywhere on my case page.

Do you have tracking for the return shipping? Does the tracking show any updates? That is what eBay is looking for -- proof the item has been received by USPS. If you have a different tracking number that shows any updates, you might try including that in your case, if possible.
Unfortunately it sounds like you had the item forwarded to you in Panama after it was delivered in the US, which would cause you to lose eBay protection.
You may still have recourse through your payment method if you are unable to get a refund through eBay.
First, see if the item is successfully returned to the seller, though. If you have tracking that shows delivery back to the seller, after three business days if the seller has not refunded you, you may see the opportunity to ask eBay to step in.
