NEED ADVICE
Hello to everyone, I have a listing on BUY IT NOW for $200 with an auction starting at $100. A buyer contacted me and wants to pay a flat $200 with me taking care of the shipping and any taxes. I am at a loss where to begin. Thanks for anything you can provide. George

·2 years agoMy advice is to NOT accept it. S/he is making that offer, AT BEST, because s/he a) doubts that that amount would win if the auction goes to the end and/or b) is i.) chronically and/or ii.) situationally impatient. AT BEST.
If the auction has ever had a bid you would have to cancel all bids (the "Charles Wysocki “FREDERICK THE LITERATE†4690/6500 Framed Renowned American" does and so any Buy It Now is no longer available) and end the auction early without a winner, ticking off the current and prospective bidders and incurring a fee of your Final Value Fee percentage (generally 10%) time the highest bid cancelled (and you don't know what the highest bid is since the full amount is hidden until you do cancel it). Then you would have to relist (with the usual fees) in a manner that the offeror can buy it but you have some control over what others do (if you must, list it as a fixed-price with Best Offer with a high BIN). AND there is no guarantee that the offeror will actually do it: it is not unlikely that s/he has made multiple such offers and will pick the best response for his/her needs, if s/he picks any.
AND the request to include s/h (to WHERE? Did s/he bother to say?) and taxes (which you have NO control over) is troubling. I'd add him/her to the Block Bidder/Buyer List since if s/he bids and wins s/he will likely be a problem buyer long before I'd consider going out of my way to accommodate his/her requests.

·2 years agoWell, to start, they’re not making that offer to try to help YOU. If they wanted it all that bad they’d just go ahead and pay your BIN price.
It sounds like maybe they’re thinking that at auction your item is going to end up in the high 100’s, but not quite up where your price plus shipping is. They’re trying to see if they can get a good deal for themselves. You’re in no way obligated to even respond. I would probably just ignore him. Or, invite him to bid.
