myFitment shutting down, So many unanswered questions...?
Summary: scaenterprise expresses frustration over eBay's decision to close the myFitment service, which complicates the listing of automotive parts. They mention difficulties in obtaining clear answers from eBay, especially concerning unbranded parts and smaller brands lacking automatic fitment data. comics-scifi-collectibles provides some guidance and suggests alternatives like PCFitment and MyListerHub. They also offer contact information for eBay Motors for further assistance, though they caution against expecting more detailed answers. The discussion highlights concerns about the upcoming changes and their impact on sellers.
So I have been selling on ebay for 20+ years and have been selling automotive parts roughly 2 years now. I have several questions that I guess eBay doesnt even have the answers to? I thought maybe I'm the only one with these questions b/c I cant find much info on a lot of issues I'm looking into, but with all the sellers of auto parts online, its gotta effect more than me. I called ebay, they were clueless when I mentioned myfitment, they transferred me about 20 different times and I finally got hung up on with no answers.
So ebay is closing myfitment. I can read that, the official report has been published. myfitment is supposed to be operational until September 30th, 2026. However in the last week or so, it appears ebay has stopped publishing fitment(from myfitment) b/c all new listings I have submitted using myfitment are not showing up on ebay(The listings are there, the compatible vehicles are not). They show up on the myfitment side, but not on ebay. And I've double and triple checked to make sure nothing was wrong.
What I've read says its supposed to make listing much easier and quicker and automatically puts the fitment in there based on part info listed. That may be fine for million dollar business selling top brands. But what about smaller companies selling brands that are not nationally recognized or unbranded parts? So GM, Delco, Motocraft, etc will automatically have fitment info published, but what about all these Amazon brands or unbranded parts? There are millions of unbranded parts on ebay that sell by the hundreds! Those are probably not in there so assuming its a part that fits 1000 vehicles, I guess all that has to be done manually??? What use to take about 5 minutes to list an unbranded item by copying fitment from myfitment is going to take anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours now depending on how many vehicles the part fits.
And it appears that no outside or third party software is going to be able to be used to add fitment(like myfitment use to). Looks like its ebay fitment plus auto program or no deal. Assuming unbranded parts will not be cataloged, either enter them manually or theyre will be no fitment data provided.
So on September 30th, 2026, listings that currently have fitment(that was imported from myfitment lets say a year ago)...will all that disappear and have to be re-submitted manually or will it stay(grandfathered in if you will) from myfitment? There appears to be no clear answer online. "Fitment that was successfully received and applied before shutdown may remain on the receiving marketplace or listing." Thats directly from myfitments website. Keyword there is "MAY"!
If I opt out of Fitment Plus Auto, do I lose current listings with fitment info from myfitment?
How do I know if a smaller brand that may not be nationally recognized is in ebays database of parts? Ebay says it will periodically check parts and update automatically. So I guess I'm gonna have to check all 1500 listings I have daily to see if fitment info has been provided?
Sooooo many un-addressed questions!!! Hoping some other sellers in this category can chime in since even ebay doesnt know...? Maybe they have spoken to the powers that be? Or maybe they have some solutions.
Update for anyone who cares: Called ebay again this evening and was told that "eBay" does not know anything about myfitment and was referred to call "eBay motors" tomorrow. Sigh!!!!!!!!!!!

Mentor4 days ago@scaenterprise Do you need the phone number for eBay Motors?
You can contact the eBay motors dedicated customer support team: Their contact info is 866-322-9227 7AM-6PM M-F MST
I really don't think that you will get more info though. Is there a specific question that you have about this change?
There is an eBay Motors group where you can connect with fellow sellers but it doesn't appear really active> https://community.ebay.com/forum/motors-58025/
