My shipping address was changed by eBay's AI seemingly without my consent.
Purchased an item on 20-Jan-2026 and it shipped to my correct address. Purchased another two items (from different sellers) on 12-Feb-2026 and both shipped to an almost identical address but the zip-code was wrong. When I went to look at my account/shipping address, a dialogue box popped up asking me to confirm, changing my shipping address from one incorrect address to another incorrect address!! This is an Artificial Intelligence nightmare! I'm still trying to discern how to contact eBay Customer Support directly.
Anyone else seeing something similar or can give me a pointer to contacting eBay CS directly?

I kept poking away at contacting eBay CS directly and asked the AI chat to "Connect me with an agent" and it worked! I requested a callback and I'm currently speaking with a human (well.... hopefully).

Mentor7 months agoBefore contacting ebay, I suggest going to USPS.COM and look for the link to standardize your address. Is it the one AI is changing your address to?
Here's how to contact eBay general customer service:
1. CLICK THIS LINK:

2. Select a category that best matches your problem.
3. Answer the chat bots question by stating what you need help with.
4.Type AGENT ( you may have repeat steps 3 and 4)
5. Request a call back or live chat. (Note that the contact options vary depending on the topic and staffing availability)
Monday to Sunday 5:00 am to 09:30 pm PST
Or you can also contact customer service by sending a PRIVATE message on social media. Customer service verifies your identity before responding.

OP6 months agoThanks this is exactly what I was looking for! Unfortunately your post wasn't yet visible when I updated my original post. I tried the address verification and it was a bit strange. It said that the zip eBay is forcing me to use is in the USPS database but the standardized format is the one that eBay's logistics says is is invalid.
My confusion deepened when the two items mentioned in my original post shipped (using eBays "corrected" version of my zip) from different states (MA & MD) and USPS accepted the one originating in MD but flagged the MA item and asked the seller to correct the zip BACK to what I've used for eBay/Amazon/Walmart et al for over 15 years now.
I've tentatively settled on the possibility that USPS has made a change that has not permeated through it's huge infrastructure yet, hence the variability between states. If the two items currently in transit both show up, with one using USPS' suggested correction and the other eBay's dictated zip, I will put the matter down and back away slowly.
