My buyer falsely claimed I sold a fake, with NO proof. Ebay took their side.

Ive been on Ebay since 1994, before they went public. I am not an Ebay store. I have sold many items over the years. Especially jewelry, which I had purchased from QVC.

I had a sterling silver bracelet from Judith Ripka, which I wasn't using, so I listed it for sale. I received an offer from a buyer, even though I wasn't accepting offers, but I said "sure". I just wanted to sell it. It wasn't important. So I awoke one morning and the item was SOLD. No communication from the buyer whatsoever.

What was important, was that the buyer all of a sudden was freaking out in a message, that the item had been delivered, yet they did not get it. She said she had the delivery on camera, and the PO walked away with her pkg., which I said it was "pink", she said she saw a white pkg. She was outraged. Said she shouldn't have to pay for the item. Anyway, the PO delivered her the item, then she said it was a fake, and not up to her standards!

She wanted to return it. My seller sight specifically says "no returns" accepted. Unless of course I have misrepresented what I have sold. I never received a question, nor was there any kind of proof, that this item was not a piece of Judith Ripka Jewelry. It was clearly marked as such. I even showed Ebay pictures of other pieces I had sold with the JR marking and the 925 silver. As did my sale item.

Now I have sold many Judith Ripka pieces of jewelry! I had to  pay for my daughter's wedding 9 years ago. I have a 100% feedback on my sight. I don't have it in me to rip someone off. Never have.

Ebay sided with this abercrombie78 person because she whined enough. They told me that buyers like it when sellers will let them return items. I am not a store! Why does Ebay even want me to select that I do not wish to accept returns then, if they feel that way?

I am so let down, and disgusted with Ebay's stance on this. Zero protection for the seller! Ebay actually was afraid that the seller would go to their bank and cancel the payment., and that I should "take the item back and then I could relist it!" I couldn't believe that, Im not an Ebay store!

Sadly I chose to wash my hands of Ebay, and closed my account.

By the way this is right after I had purchased a gold and emerald ring from a jewelry seller in India. In less than a month the gold tarnished!! Gold does does not tarnish. I did receive my money back, but the seller continues to sell on Ebay, with negative reviews and warning! Even the ring I purchased is there for sale, as "last one".

Ebay has lost, or doesn't even have the integrity it starts out with!  Sign of the times! Its very sad indeed!

< I never received a question, nor was there any kind of proof >

When a buyer opens a return for "not as described" eBay just takes their claim as gospel, they don't require proof, they don't require justification.  They won't consider rebuttal proof from the seller.  It might seem unfair, because it is, but if you want to sell on eBay you have to tolerate certain conditions and this is one of them.  Accept the return, send a shipping label, then refund after you have the item back in your hands.

If you contest the return, drag your feet, or otherwise fail to cooperate, eBay will make the decision for you.  eBay will take the money from your account to refund the buyer, will keep the fees you paid, and will sanction your account with a Defect.

If you've never received a Defect, congratulations.  If you don't even know what it is, check out this Help page:  https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-policies/seller-standards-policy?id=4347

< They  [eBay] told me that buyers like it when sellers will let them return items >

It sounds like they have a knack for stating the obvious.

Thank you for taking the time to reading thru all that I wrote.
No thank you to eBay. I do just fine without their abuse. I have a set of standards, they have shareholders, and are one sided.
