My bid was raised to the maximum because someone overbid and retracted it. It was left $30.00 more.
I bid $422.00 on a Fossil with a maximum of $452.00. A bidder raised the bid and retracted it just to know what to bid later. Ebay did not drop my bid back to $422.00 after the retraction. Someone known to a seller could have done it as well just to raise the price without a bid.

If you weren’t willing to pay $452, you should not have bid that high.
In the future, bid as late as possible, like in the last few minutes or even last few seconds. The later you bid, the less time there is for another bidder to react to your bid.
Bid once, bid as late as possible and bid your absolute maximum.
