I need to mark an item as sold so I can invoice a buyer

Only sold items get moved to the sold column.
It is not possible for a seller to conjure up an invoice without a winner on an eBay listing.

Could you revise the listing to accommodate the changes?

Send a message to the buyer to make the purchase. ebay automatically sends out an invoice, so you don't need to. However, if you want to send out your own, just let the buyer know NOT to pay until you send out an invoice.
