Monster High Creeproduction Dolls that have damaged boxes
Hello, I'd like opinions on an issue I've stumbled upon recently with Monster High Creeproduction dolls. I've noticed that many of these are selling for upwards of $100 dollars with most hitting between $150 and $200 dollars, so clearly meant for collectors. The problem is that these listings say that the item is "undamaged" but show boxes that are creased, torn, bent, etc. I saw one with some of the logo torn off like someone had pulled a sticker off of it and took some of the box with it.
I asked the eBay AI bot about it and it said that creases and tears would definitely count as damage, and if I had purchased the item expecting it to be undamaged, I could return it even if the seller didn't accept returns. It also stated that in some cases I might be able to actually keep the item and get a refund as well.
I reported one listing to eBay and the answer I received was that their AI did NOT count the tears as damage, and nothing would be done.
If a doll box has tears in it and creases, etc. it is definitely damage and should be disclosed by the seller. One listing which had a crease in the top of the box DID disclose this right in the title and was very honest and transparent about it.
I pinged one seller asking if they would be willing to discount because of their box showing damage and they said no.
I think that with these collector dolls, the box most absolutely counts as part of the item because the dolls are not taken out of the box for play. They're kept in the box in original condition for a reason and it affects the value.
eBay is wrong in this instance by their own documentation and I'd like to reach out to a real person for clarification and to have something done about these listings which are selling damaged items as undamaged.
