Money not recieved

Question

I choose not to give ebay my social security number therefore they would not release the money from items sold. I have received from them a 1099 for tax purposes and have reported that income on my taxes. I am also guessing they have my social security number from somewhere as the last 4 are on the 1099. I thought the money was turned over to the State as unclaimed but it is not there. Am I able to get this money or is it lost to me as I am not providing social security number to them.

If you do not provide a checking account and your SSN# for payout, the funds will eventually be turned over to your state as unclaimed. You can ask your state treasurer's office how long the payment processor must hold the funds. In my state it is 3 years.

If they were able to issue the 1099k, you must have filled out a W9 form, so why not complete the registration and provide your checking account to get paid?
