Money back guarantee
Summary: andic1215 expressed frustration over an eBay transaction where a buyer returned a necklace, citing issues with the chain's thinness, despite a "No refunds" policy. The buyer used eBay's Money Back Guarantee, leading eBay to approve the return. krazzykats and lady_madonna explained that eBay's guarantee policy overrules individual return policies, and they suggested reselling the item once returned.
I sold a necklace recently that was sent to the appraiser. A couple days after the buyer received it they decided to return it. They put their reason as: Hi, I received beautiful necklace but I having trouble to put on the necklace because it has too thin last chain of the necklace that hard to hold it too fragile I wish it more bigger and thicker chain your description doesn't show i I didn't realize that please refer to pictures. Ebay approved this return even though I listed as No refunds under their guarantee. When I called eBay to dispute this the rep agreed that this was a misuse of their return policy and reported the buyer but said there is nothing they can be done to stop the return since a loop hole was found. She also had me report the buyer. My listing was accurate and I never stated it was a thick chain or anything like that. How is this even fair? Now the necklace is headed back to the appraiser

Mentor3 weeks agoEbay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers overrides your "no returns" policy.
If the buyer filed a Return Request with a reason covered by the Ebay Money Back Guarantee, you must approve the return and provide a return shipping label then refund the buyer when you receive the returned item.

OP3 weeks agoI understand but the buyer clearly gave reason that is wasn’t what they wanted not that there was a discrepancy with my listing. Buyer states it’s to fragile and she wishes it was thicker. That’s not something wrong with eBay I sold it’s just her taste in jewelry so why is that on me? Do I have to cover the fees eBay was paid? She shipped it back via FedEx to the appraiser I didn’t even issue a return label so who pays shipping costs?

Mentor3 weeks agoMaybe it's not but eBay's MBG trumps your no returns rule. You will get it back and can still resell it.
